Patti Flowers

For Patti Flowers, fashion design is not only about creating that unique, one-of-a-kind piece, but also helping her clients build extraordinary and lasting memories.

As owner and head designer of Patti Flowers Design Studio, a special event design company in Dallas, Texas, Flowers works on the same frontlines of her industry she did as a child.

"When I was a child, I always loved fashion and playing in my grandmother's 1920's hand crocheted dresses and my mother's 1950's party dresses, " Flowers said. "I always designed my own dance dresses and my grandmother would make them to my specifications."

Similar to her reason for choosing fashion design as a major at Texas Tech University, Flowers said establishing her own company just felt natural.

After nearly 30 years in the industry and 14 years working for well-known design company Stanley Korshak, Flowers found herself in the perfect position 6 years ago to create her own business.

Flowers, whose work has been featured in many respected publications, such as Women's Wear Daily, People Magazine, Ebony Magazine, D Magazine, Outdoor Weddings, a book by Mallory Samson and seeing her name and fashions in print is surreal.

An induction of sorts into the professional community, one of her favorite experiences was the first time she saw professional models wearing her designs on the runway.

"Having the opportunity to work Brides, Debutantes, Former First Ladies, and NFL wives is incredible," Flowers said. "But more importantly, being asked to be part of a time in my client's life that is so important to them is what I love most."

Actively involved in many organizations within her community, Flowers is a member of the Junior League of Dallas, The Crystal Charity Ball, Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church and numerous Boards. Patti and husband, Tom Swiley have been married for over 12 years and enjoy entertaining friends and relaxing at their beach house appropriately named... String of Pearls.
